Let me start out by saying that I watch BOTH The Big Bang Theory and The Office. I, like most of Jim Parsons’ fans, and even Mr. Parsons himself, expected Steve Carell to win last night. It was his last season, he never won for the part before, yadda yadda. But just because we expected it doesn’t mean he deserved it any more than Jim.
What I don’t understand is why Jim is getting all this hate from people who haven’t even seen Big Bang. If you’ve never seen Jim play Sheldon Cooper, then you have no right to ridicule him for the Emmy that he didn’t even think he would get. I mean, why not be outraged at Alec Baldwin who won so many Emmys over Carell for all the other years that he played Michael Scott?!
I get that it’s upsetting that everyone can’t win at everything. But come on. There’s no need to be so disrespectful about it. Basically, I hate how it makes Jim’s win less special just because things turned out the way they have been for the last six years for Carell. Yes, he was an excellent Michael Scott. But Jim Parsons is an excellent Sheldon Cooper as well. Let’s play nice, everyone.
